MY PRIVATE GARDEN!

Throughout the gardening season, my own garden is filled with vegetables, flowers, herbs and fruit. I sat for three months in 1982 overlooking an "outback". For twenty long years the outback had not been touched. It was an over grown jungle with cudzu vines and tangled shrubbery interwined with an old wire fence. The house was built in 1929. I bought it in 1982 and in January of '83, bulbs started sprouting through the growth and I realized that at one time someone had gardened here. That Spring I began by measuring the yard and checking the property plans and waiting to see what else would appear. The kudzu vines had to go and were eventually used to make baskets. The old fencing was torn out and replaced with a privacy fence. The garden is surrounded by oaks on all sides which means sunlight is at a premium. The oaks are incredibly beautiful and provide much needed shade in summer. They also recycle tons of moisture back into the air which protects my garden during periods of drought.

Just one more thing...I'm a gardener not a photographer!

The images above are of the climbing rose I started from my father's original plant. He was a master gardener and the rose, his favorite. The picture above shows a close up of these beautiful, fragrant roses...under the rose arbor, a swing and a chime where my grandchildren play.

My granddaughters have their own gardening space in my garden. Here you can see their own water garden.

Bird houses, feeders, baths abound here and there for my feathered friends in places the cats can't reach.

Underneath the Myrtle, which has already reached its maximum height, is a gardener's rest I built for myself. Look closely and you can see Inanna, an American Domestic Shorthair and a loving member of our family. The shelf underneath the seat is definitely hers. Bolin is another cat friend.

A place where we can refresh ourselves with a shower. It is in constant shade so I made a mirror for the back wall and although this photo doesn't do it justice, the mirror reflects the light and brightens the nook.

Here you can see Inanna as a kitten in her favorite potted plant.

The "Fat Cats Saloon" - Inanna and Bolin visit here in bad weather and also for Catnip and treats.

What a pansy face!

Sweet William transplanted from my mother's garden.

Each year I plant marigolds in different spots in the garden.

This post holds up one end of my Yucatan hammock, a moonflower vine in season and points to my favorite spots on the planet.
